UN to impose cease fire in Gaza

It is high time for united Organisation to intervene and send the International peace keeping force to bring an end to the conflict at Gazat to put an end to offensives and to initiate the long desire peace process in Mideast between Israel and Hamas with boost to broader peace talks between Palestinian authority:

US official spokesperson and Secretary of state Rice is giving the statement for ceasefire and Ban Ki-moon “called for an immediate end to the ground operation, and asked that Israel do all possible to ensure the protection of civilians and that humanitarian assistance is able to reach those in need," his office said in a statement.

UN Security Council has once again failed to reach any consensus on the Gaza crisis on Sunday. The meeting was called after Israel"s ground offensive in Gaza launched last night. The meeting failed to reach on a formal statement after resistance from UK and US on its wordings.

Earlier backed by tanks and helicopters, thousands of Israeli troops entered Gaza last night. Heavy artillery fire, tracer fire and rockets could be heard in the area. Hamas forces fired back with mortars and rockets. An Israeli military spokesman said that dozens of Hamas fighters have been killed in the initial battles and 30 Israeli soldiers have been injured two of them seriously while Hamas has said on its television station that Israeli soldiers had also been killed.

Medical officials say at least 467 people have died in Gaza and 2800 have been injured since aerial bombardment began last week. Israel"s military has said that more than a dozen rockets have been fired over the border yesterday. Four Israeli citizens have also been killed in rocket fires, since the offensive began.

The Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC) in a statement after its meeting in Jeddah last evening has urged the UN Security Council to take action to halt, what it called the Israel"s brutal and sustained aggression against the Gaza Strip. The Parliamentary Union of the OIC Executive Committee will convene extraordinarily in Istanbul on 14th of this month. Turkish Prime minister Tayyip Erdogan met King Abdullah of Saudi Arab in Riyadh. Iran"s Supreme National Security Council chief Saeed Jalili met Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in Damascus while Iranian security supremo also met the radical Hamas movement"s exiled political chief Khaled Meshaal on Saturday to discuss the situation in the Gaza Strip.

Israeli forces marched into the coastal territory on Saturday backed by heavy artillery fire, air and naval bombardment after week-long airstrikes.Initial local media reports from both Israel and Gaza indicated that IDF troops had killed dozens of Hamas gunmen as they traded heavy fire upon entering the Strip.

Defence Minister Ehud Barak vowed to defend his country from incessant rocket attacks while accepting that it wont be “easy or brief" and would endanger soldiers" lives."The objective is to destroy the Hamas terror infrastructure in the area of operations,"Israel Defence Forces (IDF) spokesperson, Major Avital Leibovitch,said. “We are going to take some of the launch areas used by Hamas"To strike a direct and hard blow against the Hamas while increasing the deterrent strength of the IDF, in order to bring about an improved and more stable security situation for residents of Southern Israel over the long term," the statement explained the objective of the ground offensive."We won"t abandon our citizens. The IDF"s job is to defend the home front", Barak asserted.Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, Barak, and Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni met on Friday night and approved the ground incursion.
